What are the Different Investors Programs Available?
The different investors programs available include:
Start-Up Visa Program: The Start-Up Visa Program is for foreign business entrepreneurs who wish to establish a new business in Canada. No minimum investment is required. However, you must obtain a letter of support or commitment certificate from a designated Canadian organization.
Business investors are also eligible for a temporary work visa if they are actively engaged in operating a business in Canada. They can qualify for permanent residency after attaining a letter of support or a Commitment Certificate.
Quebec Immigrant Investor Program: If you wish to reside in the province of Quebec, you can apply for the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program. The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program is for immigrants who want to invest in Quebec. French proficiency is not a requirement for this program.
You will be required to make a 5 year guaranteed investment of $1.2 million.
Provincial Nominee Programs for Investors: If you wish to invest and live in a specific province or territory in Canada, then you can apply to be approved through their Provincial Business Programs.
Each province and territory in Canada offer their own immigration streams for foreign investors and entrepreneurs with their own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Each province will have its own set of eligibility criteria and requirements. However, you will be required to clear all admissibility requirements for entry into Canada on the federal level.
To be eligible for the Immigrant Investor Program, you will be required to make a $150,000-$800,000 guaranteed investment with the Canadian government.
If you wish to open a business, then you must provide $350,000-$800,000 of proof of funds.
You must have a net worth between $350,000- $1,600,000. This amount is different based on the type of immigration program you are applying for.
You will be required to make this investment in the period of 30 days after being approved. If your investment is approved, then you can qualify for permanent residency in Canada.
You will be required to own and operate at least 33.33% of equity capital and create 1 new job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. You must also have a net worth of $300,000.
