The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) offers different immigration programs to encourage foreign workers to immigrate to the territory. An opportunity for these foreign nationals to become permanent residents of Canada.

The Employer Driven Program- part of the NTNP, is for eligible foreign workers with a valid job offer from a designated employer and who wish to work in and live in the territory.

The Employer Driven program offers 2 different immigration streams under the NTNP.

What are the Different Immigration Streams Under the Northwest Territories Employer Driven Program?

Skilled Worker (NTNP): The skilled worker stream is for eligible National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, or B workers who intend to work and reside in the province.

If you are applying for the skilled worker stream, you must meet the following requirements:

Work Experience: You must have a minimum of 1-year full-time work experience in the same occupation as the job offer
Level of Education: You must have the required education level or job specialization based on your occupation
Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate a minimum of level 6 of the Canadian language benchmarks for language proficiency to qualify
Job Offer: You must have a valid job offer for a permanent, full-time position at a NOC skill level of 0, A, or B
Connection to Northwest Territories: You must have a valid work permit to temporarily work in Canada

National Occupation Classification (NOC):

“Skill Type 0 (zero): management jobs, such as:

restaurant managers
mine managers
shore captains (fishing)

Skill Level A: professional jobs that usually call for a degree from a university, such as:

doctors
dentists
architects

Skill Level B: technical jobs and skilled trades that usually call for a college diploma or training as an apprentice, such as:

chefs
plumbers

Employers will also be required to meet some requirements:

Job Offer: The employer must provide a valid job offer for a full-time permanent occupation with a salary that meets or exceeds the current wage rate of the industry. The employer must also provide an employment agreement that is agreed upon by the candidate.

Business Requirements: The employer must have a registered and operational business for at least 1 year, which is in good standing with the local and provincial immigration authorities.

Recruitment Requirements: The employer must submit a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). If the employer can not provide a positive LMIA, then they must demonstrate that they tried to recruit a worker both locally and nationally.

Critical Impact Worker (NTNP): The Critical Impact Worker Stream encourages the immigration of semi-skilled and unskilled workers to fill labor market gaps in the Northwest Territories. You must meet the following criteria:

Work Experience: You must have a minimum of 6 months of work experience in the same NOC C or D position with the same employer who is providing the job offer
Job Offer: You must have a valid job offer for a full-time permanent position from a designated employer in the province
Education level: There is no minimum education requirement
Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate a minimum of level 4 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) for English or French
Connection to Northwest Territories: You must be working in the Northwest Territories for at least 1 year to qualify for this stream
Settlement Funds: You must demonstrate enough financial resources to support yourself and your family members
Employers looking to recruit a foreign worker under this stream must meet the same requirements as mentioned above

To apply for the Employer Stream, you must have valid temporary residency status as a Canadian work permit.
