New Brunswick is the only bilingual province on the east coast of Canada. It is a hub for various industries like agriculture, fishing, forestry, manufacturing and mining of metals such as lead and zinc.
Each province or territory has its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). New Brunswick’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is primarily focused on the economic immigration of foreign skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and investors. New Brunswick welcomed 4,909 immigrants who arrived in 2020.
What are the Different Immigration Streams Offered Under the NBPNP?
There are several economic immigration streams under the Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP):
Express Entry Labour Market Stream: In New Brunswick, the Express Entry Labour Market Stream aims to encourage the economic immigration of foreign skilled workers that respond to the provincial labor market needs.
Applicants will be required to score a minimum of 67 points on the points assessment grid and be eligible for 1 of the 3 Federal Economic Immigration programs that funnel into Express Entry.
The NBPNP Express Entry program is currently not accepting ‘expression of interest’ (EOI) from new applicants.
The applicants are assessed based on their education level, work experience, in-demand occupations, and language proficiency.
Skilled Workers with Employer Support (NBPNP): The Skilled Workers with Employer Support (NBPNP) offers an immigration pathway for skilled foreign workers with a valid job offer from a designated employer in the province.
You must demonstrate the required education level, language proficiency, and work experience to qualify. You must also score at least 60 points on the Points Assessment Grid.
Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream (NBPNP): The Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream (NBPNP) offers an immigration pathway for international graduates. Applicants must have:
- A valid Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP),
- Have an operational business in the province for at least 1 year,
- Have 100% ownership of the business and
- receive a salary that meets the Low-Income Cut-Off
Entrepreneurial Stream (NBPNP): The Entrepreneurial Stream (NBPNP) is for international entrepreneurs and investors who wish to establish or acquire a business in New Brunswick.
Applicants must:
- Invest $250,000 in the business
- Own 33.33% of the voting shares
- Be actively involved in the business operations
- Make an exploratory visit to the province to apply for this stream
Successful applicants will receive the provincial nomination and be invited to apply for permanent residence.
Succession Connect Pilot Program (NBPNP): The Succession Connect Pilot Program (NBPNP) is a new immigration pilot to help international entrepreneurs and investors connect with local business owners looking for investment opportunities or wishing to sell their business to continue its legacy.
The pilot will receive funding from the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, the New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Business Development Program and several corporate sponsors.
