Launched in 2017, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) was introduced to encourage economic immigration to the Atlantic Provinces of Canada, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The AIPP aims at attracting foreign workers to immigrate to these provinces, provided they have a valid job offer from a designated employer in one of the provinces.
Initially designed to be a 3-year program, it was extended last year till December 2021. The Canadian government has set the target to invite around 6000 economic immigrants through this stream in 2021 under the Immigration Levels Plan for 2021-23.
All 4 provinces under this pilot have different occupations in demand. While there is no specific list of targeted occupations for this program, being employed in one of the in-demand occupations in your preferred province will improve your chances of success. The best thing about the AIPP is that all occupations under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) code Skill level 0, A, B, or C are eligible to qualify for the program.
