Canadian Immigration Applications are processed by 3 types of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) offices in Canada:
- Case Processing Centre (CPC)
- Centralized Intake Office (CIO)
- Operations Support Centre (OSC)
These offices receive and process applications for Canadian permanent residence and Canadian citizenship. As an applicant, you are required to mail your application to these offices. However, these offices are not open to the public and do not offer any assistance with immigration applications.

The Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Ottawa, Ontario processes applications for the following programs:
- Visitor Visas or Temporary Resident Visa applications from within Canada for applicants with valid status as a temporary worker or student
- Permanent residence applications are submitted from the US and Canada after they have been processed by CPCs in Mississauga, Sydney, or Ottawa.
OSC, Ottawa, Ontario:
The Operations Support Centre (OSC) in Ottawa, Ontario processes the following types of applications:
- International Experience Canada (IEC) work permits
- Temporary residence applications filed electronically from inside Canada
- Replacement requests for temporary resident documentation
- Amendment of immigration documents and temporary resident documents
CPC, Mississauga, Ontario:
This CPC in Mississauga, Ontario processes applications for Family Sponsorship programs from applicants in Canada and abroad.
CPC, Edmonton, Alberta:
The CPC in Edmonton, Alberta is responsible for:
- Processing extension requests for Temporary Resident status, Temporary Work Permits, and Study Permits
- Processing permanent residence applications from Protected Persons and Conventional Refugees
- Processing permanent residence applications from applicants to caregiver programs
- Processing permanent residence applications under the Temporary Resident Permit holder class
- Providing loans for permanent residence fee

The CPC in Sydney, Nova Scotia manages:
- Applications for permanent resident cards, both new and renewals

The above-mentioned offices are not open to the public. However, certain offices across Canada are open by appointment only. Based on the type of your Canadian Visa application, the IRCC may contact you to schedule an appointment at one of these offices.

- Conducting citizenship tests
- Conducting citizenship interviews
- Conducting citizenship ceremonies
- Holding immigration interviews
