Provinces Seeking To Hire

The provinces listed below have the most job openings, according to Statistics Canada, with the most recent data available from March 2023.

Canada, as a whole, has a job vacancy rate of 4.5%. This refers to 791,005 job vacancies throughout the country.

1. Ontario

The province of Ontario has the most job vacancies among all the provinces, with 281,485 open jobs, at a rate of 4.1%.

Ontario has a large population, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area. Toronto is often cited as one of the most diverse and multicultural cities in the world, making it a choice destination for many immigrants. Ontario is also home to Canada’s capital city, Ottawa.

Living in Ontario is an excellent choice for anyone interested in Canada’s lifestyle and entertainment offerings. Ontario, and specifically Toronto, is a hotspot for big events throughout the year. You will also find popular tourist attractions like Niagara Falls in Ontario.

2. Quebec

Quebec has 198,495 job vacancies at a rate of 5%.

Quebec is often well-known as Canada’s French-speaking province. French is Quebec’s official language, and it would be beneficial to learn the language if you choose to reside in Quebec, but it is not required. Quebec has the second-highest population of all Canadian provinces.

Quebec’s largest city is Montreal, famous for its culture and history, with many attractions and monuments to explore. Quebec’s capital, Quebec City, is another excellent choice for many immigrants looking to live somewhere with a great balance between city and nature.

3. British Columbia

The province of British Columbia has a 5.1% job vacancy rate, with 126,435 job vacancies.

British Columbia is along the west coast of Canada. This province has impressive sights to see, including but not limited to the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Many people choose to settle in BC for its favourable climate as it is known for beautiful weather. BC is another province known to be a multicultural hub in Canada.

Vancouver is a popular city in British Columbia, as is its capital, Victoria. If you want to live somewhere with beautiful natural scenery and great cities, BC might be the place for you.

4. Alberta

Alberta is a province with 87,865 job vacancies, at a rate of 4.2%.

Many immigrants choose to live in Alberta. Much of the province’s population is near its big cities, Calgary and Edmonton. Alberta is an excellent choice if you want to live in a province with a growing economy.

Alberta is also known for its beautiful national landscapes. You may be familiar with Alberta’s Banff National Park, within the Rocky Mountains, which is a very popular tourist destination. Jobs Vacancies in Other Provinces

While the provinces listed above certainly have the most job vacancies, they are also some of the most populated. If you are interested in some of the other Canadian provinces, here are some other great options.

Between Ontario and Alberta, you’ll find the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. These provinces have a fair amount of job vacancies that you may want to consider in your decision-making process. Manitoba has 28,995 job vacancies at a rate of 4.7%. Comparatively, Saskatchewan has 24,165 job vacancies at a vacancy rate of 4.8%.

If you are thinking about living on the east coast of Canada, consider some of the Atlantic provinces. Nova Scotia has 18,805 job vacancies at a vacancy rate of 4.3%, while New Brunswick has 12,380 job vacancies at 3.9%.
