What Is the Student Direct Stream (SDS) Program?
The Student Direct Stream (SDS) program provides expedited processing of study permit applications for international students with a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
The study permit processing time under the SDS program takes less than 20 calendar days. For non-SDS study permits, the processing time is roughly 3 months.
This program was first introduced by the IRCC in 2018 for students from India, China, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Later, the program was expanded to include 3 more countries: Pakistan, Senegal, and Morocco in 2019.
